Welcome to Undiscovered Authors, the UK’s first national competition aimed at seeking out new literary talent on any subject.

Thank you to everyone who entered Undiscovered Authors 2005; the standard of literary talent was outstanding, and choosing a winner was exceptionally difficult - we could have given hundreds of prizes!

Due to the success of UA 05, and the number of excellent works we unfortunately had to turn down, we are running the competition again for 2006 - we would love to welcome back the writers who were unlucky the first time round and also new writers who missed the opportunity last year.

We are looking for works in the categories of General Fiction, Non Fiction and Academic - These three categories are open to unpublished writers, plus we have introduced a new and separate category for Previously Published Authors.

The General Fiction category is split regionally across the UK and Ireland (please see regions page for further details), with a prize of £1,000 per region. All regional winners will be put forward to a National Final to win a top prize of £10,000, along with 3 wild card entries, which we will select from our favourite losing entries. Regional Second and Third placed entrants will also win a prize of publication.

The Non Fiction and Academic categories will be judged on a National level only – with the winners receiving a prize of £1,000.

The Previously Published category is a new addition to the competition and is open to published writers - but the text they submit must be previously unpublished – The National winner in this category will win £2,500. Please see categories page for further details

We require a synopsis and completed work at entry. To register for the competition, simply complete the online registration form. When you have completed your book and synopsis, simply email them together as a Word file attachment to entries@undiscoveredauthors.co.uk before the deadline date of 31st January 2007. In today’s publishing industry it is unfortunately very difficult to persuade major publishers to accept manuscripts from unknown authors, and this restricts many able and worthwhile manuscripts from getting the exposure they deserve. Undiscovered Authors is designed to encourage anyone to become published to whatever level they may aspire…
