the entry requirements
1. These terms and conditions,
together with any specific rules set out on www.undiscoveredauthors.co.uk
website are the Competition Rules (‘Rules’)
and by entering the competition, all entrants agree
to be bound by the Rules.
2. This competition is organised by BookForce UK
Limited (‘BookForce’) of 50 Albemarle
Street, London, W1S 4BD and BookForce retain
the right to alter the Competition and the Competition
Rules or make exceptions for individual
cases at any time without prior notice.
3. BookForce reserve the right to withdraw
the prizes offered if all entries within
certain categories/regions fall below the BookForce
standard.
4. The Competition is open to any British
or Irish national or resident aged 16 or over.
5. All Entrants in to the General
Fiction, Non Fiction or
Academic categories must be previously
unpublished, which, for the avoidance of
doubt, means they have not previously had
text published under a valid ISBN
in their own name. If, however,
the entrant has an ISBN from a
self-published work, or from contributing
to a work, they would still be eligible
to enter in these categories, as they would not
be seen to have benefited fully from a publishing
contract.
6. Entrants into the Previously Published
category must enter a work that has not been previously
published.
7. Each Entry must be the undisputed work
of the Entrant and the Entrant must ensure
that if any text or intellectual property belonging
to any other person or organisation is used in the
Entry, then the Entrant has the approval of such
individual or organisation to use that text or property.
8. Multiple Entries may be accepted,
but each Entry must be submitted as if it were a
separate Entry with a unique Entry number.
9. Employees of BookForce or any of its sponsors
and their immediate families will be specifically
excluded from entering the Competition.
10. Entries must be submitted by the dates published
and in the format required unless specific exemption
is given in writing by the competition Organisers.
11. The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify
any Entry for any reason but in particular if any
of the Rules have been broken or if the material
supplied is offensive or illegal.
12. The Organisers will not be responsible for
any error, omission, interruption, deletion, loss,
defect, delay, theft, alteration or any other problem
arising in the submission of entries caused by force
majeur.
13. The Organisers retain the rights to any publicity
or marketing activity, which they deem
necessary to promote either the Competition or its
Entrants, their Entries, the Competition sponsors
and the Organisers themselves. Entrants agree to
participate in any reasonable request by the Organisers
to fulfil marketing obligations relating to the
Competition and their own Entry.
14. Entrants retain all rights to their
typescripts, except in the case of prize-winners
to whom publishing contracts have been offered and
accepted. If a contract is offered and signed, the
entrant will retain the intellectual rights to the
work, whilst Discovered Authors would take the publishing
rights.
15. The Organisers will not distribute
any material relating to the Entries or
the Entrants themselves other than to the Organisers’
judging panels and readers, their own staff and
to the Media for the purposes as set out in clause
13 above.
16. The Organisers specifically exclude themselves
from any damage or loss however caused which may
arise as a result of an Entry by an Entrant to the
Entrant.
17. No personal data relating to the Entrant will
be disclosed to any third party without the express
permission of the Entrant.
